IFS, trauma and neuroscience

This five-day course is designed to help you master the skills needed to treat trauma and dissociation. You’ll learn about:

  • Identifying and working with traumatized parts.
  • Working with clients with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and attachment traumas.
  • Working with extreme parts, including self-harming, suicidal, substance-abusing, dissociative and shame-based parts.
  • Unburdening exiles, updating the system and re-establishing trust in Self.
  • Integrating other therapies with IFS.

This training course also allows you to explore the parts of yourself that are activated when you work with trauma—in the safe, nurturing environment of the course. You’ll be helped to:

  • Understand the particular components of the IFS model that are relevant to the treatment of trauma.
  • Apply IFS techniques when working with dissociative clients.
  • Take advantage of experiential learning to foster your own personal growth and development.

Note that you need to attend all five training days in order to receive a certificate of completion.

IFS, addictions and eating disorders

This 5-day course focuses on:

  • Viewing addictions and eating disorders through the lens of IFS
  • The practical application of IFS to treatment, and
  • The importance of self-energy in the healing process.

You’ll learn:

  • How to define and view addictions and eating disorders from the IFS perspective
  • How to apply basic key concepts of IFS to addictions and eating disorders
  • Steps for healing the shame, fear, trauma and legacy burdens underneath
  • How to identify and address treatment constraints, and
  • Integration of IFS with other treatments and self-help groups.

IFS theory and technique are important, but knowledge of the impact we and our parts have on clients is crucial for a positive outcome. In the safe and nurturing atmosphere of the training, you’ll be invited to explore your own parts that may affect your work with these clients.

Note that you need to attend all five training days in order to receive a certificate of completion.
